Vocations …
to the priesthood and to the religious life are essential to the life and future of the Church. Trough the ministry of priests and deacons, acting in the name of Christ, the sacraments of his Church are being administered and Our Savior’s mission in this world is being continued. Through the many forms of religious life men and women consecrate themselves totally to God, following Our Savior more closely in poverty, chastity and obedience, and show to the world a different way of life.
And God still calls people today …
to be priests, deacons and religious sisters and brothers. Both, the priesthood and the religious life, much like the call to marriage, are beautiful, yet challenging ways to live out our common Christian vocation to be holy and to follow Our Lord, making known his goodness and love. “Go, sell what you have, (…) then come, follow me”, says the Lord (Mk 10:21).
What you can do …
• think about the beauty and the challenge of God’s call to each of us;
• recognize the importance and the need for vocations;
• pray for those already in the priesthood or religious life;
• pray for those who are being called to be priests, deacons or religious;
• encourage and support them in every way possible.
Evangelization …
is any word or deed by which we spread the message of the Gospel. Through his life, death and resurrection Christ made known to the world the love of the heavenly Father for his people and for all creation and redeemed the world from utter despair and total death. Through the ages the Church of Christ has faithfully preserved and made available to people of faith the means to our salvation offering new life here and beyond.
And God needs all of us …
to play a part in this evangelizing activity of his Church in order to continue to bring Christ’s redeeming love and life to all those who do not know him; to those who might have forgotten about him; and to those who may have offended him. Every one of our efforts counts. “Go on your way; (…) and say ‘The kingdom of God is at hand’ (…)”, says the Lord (Lk 10:3.9). What you can do …
• appreciate the beauty and the power of the Catholic faith;
• learn more about your faith and about the Church;
• be patient with others who are struggling with their faith;
• encourage them to ask their questions and express their concerns;
• share with them your faith in God and in the Church.
Youth and young adults …
are the future of the Church and of the local Christian community. In our young people is hidden the promise and hope of tomorrow. This makes youth a special treasure for family, society and the Church and demands respect, openness and sensitivity in response. As young people in their teens and in early adulthood discover their identity and search for a meaning to their lives, they are also most vulnerable and susceptible.
And God has a plan for each …
to become a unique and unrepeatable person. The pursuit of happiness and self-fulfillment, which is so much part of the youthful journey of self-discovery, can only reach its ultimate goal when each person finds and follows the plan of life God has designed for us. “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness (…)”, says the Lord (Mt 5:3.6).
What you can do …
• see the good in our young people and the challenges of their lives;
• encourage our young people to choose what is right, true and good;
• be examples to them of Christian charity, modesty and chastity;
• pray for our young people, especially for those who are struggling;
• pray for our families, especially for parents and educators.

your suggestions and your thoughts. It is crucial that in this great missionary effort we all work together: parish priests, religious, lay people, young and old. Each of us, by virtue of our baptism and confirmation, has a most important role to play in spreading the Good News and building up the Church, the Body of Christ. Everything we do, be it ever so small, will make a difference.
