Seminarian Retreat The Diocesan seminarians, in addition to anyone interested who is discerning the priesthood, are invited to retreat to the small mission of St. John the Baptist outside Bracebridge, on the northern shore of the pristine Lake Rossue for the annual Diocesan Seminarian Retreat. Located in the heart of cottage country, the Mission and its small house are removed from the world without being desolate. Its location allows for quiet time on the water, for long walks, and for time in creation, to reflect on its creator. The time together is composed of two parts – days of bonding and silent retreat. In the days of bonding, the seminarians spend time together playing soccer, going fishing or visiting Algonquin national park. Food is graciously provided by the locals, as well as tours of the area. Following these days is the retreat at which time the seminarians and others reflect and discern in silence. Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, spiritual direction, confession, adoration and spiritual conferences are all provided by the priest leading the retreat. Meals are eaten in silence, as well. This quiet time is meant to allow the seminarians and the other young men on the retreat quiet themselves and the world around them so as to listen to the small, still voice of God. The conferences provide much to reflect on in the many hours of silence; one is given, in these few short days, a deeper understanding of how God is working in their life and insight into how they are supposed to be working in the life of the Church. Those interested in attending should contact the Vocations Office, (705) 749-0330 or email vocations@veyopeterboro.org If you have questions regarding any of these events, please don't hesitate to contact the office. Pass the message on to anyone who is interested.
