Vocation Promise

“Trusting that the Lord Jesus, the supreme and eternal priest, will hear the prayer of his Church, I invoke all the blessings of divine grace on all of you, brothers in the Episcopate, priests, religious men and women and on all other members of the Church, especially those who are preparing for Holy Orders or the consecrated life, and I impart the Apostolic Blessing to you all, with a special thought for all those who are promoting a growth in vocations.”

(Pope John Paul II)

Vocations to the priesthood and to the religious life are vital for the life of the Church. Through the ministry of priests and deacons Christ continues his saving ministry among us, and through the witness of consecrated sisters and brothers he shows us a new way of life. In order to encourage and promote such vocations in our Diocese this Office needs your prayerful assistance and support. Your prayers, deeds of mercy and other spiritual offerings are of great importance, as they can open the hearts and minds of those whom God has called. Fill out the form below, e-mail it back to this Office and print off a copy as a reminder to you of what you have promised to do for vocations in our Diocese. In the name of all those you will touch with your prayers: Thank you!

A Prayer for Vocations

“O Jesus, Good Shepherd, bless our parishes with numerous priests, deacons, men and women religious, consecrated laity and missionaries, according to the needs of the entire world that you love and wish to save. We especially entrust our community to you; grant us the spirit of the first Christians, so that we may be a cenacle prayer, in loving acceptance of the Holy Spirit. Assist our pastors and all who live a consecrated life. Guide the steps of those who have responded generously to your call and are preparing to receive holy orders or to profess the evangelical counsels. Help them understand that in you alone can they attain complete fulfillment. We beseech you to sustain our faith with the certainty that God will grant what you have commanded us to ask. Amen”

(Pope John Paul II)
