The next World Youth Day (WYD) will be held in Madrid the capital city of Spain. Pope Benedict XVI made this epic announced on July 20, 2008 as he waved “arrivederci” to the Catholic masses of Sydney at the concluding WYD Papal Mass. World Youth Day is a youth-oriented Roman Catholic Church event geared towards young adults building bridges of friendship and hope between continents, peoples and cultures to deepen their faith.

World Youth Day (or in short WYD) was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1986. It is celebrated on a diocesan level annually (SONfest), and at a week-long international level every three years at different locations.

The international level events attract hundreds of thousands of youth from almost every country on the planet. It is a major part of the upsurge of Catholic youth in some countries over recent years. The event has far reaching effects, not restricted to those who attend.

Your Pilgrimage to WYD 2011 in Spain includes:
